St. Augustine Florida Chapter of the Florida Writers Association

About the Ancient City Chapter

Because the FWA motto is, "Writers helping writers" and because writers like Randy Cribbs felt a group to help other writers was a good idea, the Ancient City Chapter was born in 2006.

Our chapter is a diverse group and includes published and prepublished authors, editors, artists, and those just beginning to get serious about writing. OUR NEW EMAIL ADDRESS IS:

We meet the third Saturday of each month, except for February when we take a month off, and October when we're at the annual FWA Conference! Every month there is a speaker whose topic will relate to some element of either the craft or the business of writing.  We usually have coffee and always hope attendees will bring business cards and take the time to network and form or join critique groups.

Our group is run by the group. To put together programs, we have a steering committee of FWA volunteers who take care of the logistics of the meetings. We are partners with the library's Friends of the Library organization and any funds we raise help them to buy new books and run literacy programs that are no longer funded by tax dollars.

To grow as a writer, you need to converse with other writers, share lessons learned, learn about activities that will help you learn the craft, marketing, and sales of your work.

These are the key purposes of our group and our association. Writers helping writers!

We hope you'll join us any time you can. And if you have ideas for topics or speakers, let one of us know after the meeting!
